Summer Reading Club 2012 Has Begun
The first Summer Reading Club session has come and gone, with over 40 children taking part. Guest presenter Leif Douglas taught a hands on lesson about native species of Lillooet and the children were able to plant a sample garden in front of the library. They also decorated the surrounding lot with chalk nature drawings.
The SRC staff, Keely, Nikki and Katie, led the children in games from Equitas International's 'Play it Fair' toolkit for children. These games provide a wonderful basis for teaching human rights and responsibilities, and will be a core part of the summer program.
Combined with stories, snacks and library time, it was an interesting and engaging start to the season.
